Common questions

How do I steer?

Turn on Real compass in the settings at the back of the book, and the raft leans toward the way your phone is facing. Or use the tiller dial and leave it be. Build a Ship’s Wheel to lock the heading.

What happens while I’m away?

The raft keeps drifting for up to 24 hours of credited time: stations work, nets fill and the kilometres add up. When you come back, a “While you were away” chapter tells you what happened. Nothing needs claiming.

What’s the difference between Peaceful and Open Sea?

On the Peaceful sea nobody ever goes hungry. On the Open Sea the crew must be fed, and going ashore has a little more at stake. On either, nothing attacks you and nothing on the raft is ever destroyed.

Where is my save?

On your device only. The Voyages page in the book’s colophon keeps several voyages side by side. Your save is included in your normal iCloud or computer backup of the device.

How do I add the widget or Live Activity?

Long-press an empty spot on your Home Screen, tap Edit → Add Widget, search for Junk Raft and add “The Raft”. The Live Activity appears on your Lock Screen while a voyage is under way.

Does it need the internet?

No. Junk Raft plays fully offline and never connects to a network.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

No ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts, and no data collected.
